Using audience foot-drumming on the floor to create an earthquake, an electric current for lightning and hot water poured over liquid nitrogen for thunder, Brainiac literally took Brighton by storm.
The team from Sky TV's anarchic semi-educational science programme also answered other burning questions such as what happens when you set light to hydrogen, how much air a hot water bottle can hold before it explodes and how to pass 12 volts of electricity through the entire Brainiac team.
Like most of Sky TV, the show goes large on fun while keeping it light on actual information, setting off fire extinguishers and blowing up caravans along the way.
But while it's not the Royal Institution's Christmas Lectures, the team should be applauded for showing young minds that science is actually an engaging and practical subject.
