You'd be hard-pressed to find a better way to mark the start of British Summer Time than with a Quantic Soul Orchestra gig.
The sun had sunk and the chill set in, but inside it was as steamy as the sands of Copacabana.
From the first few chords the crowd were bumping their hips, smiling wide and shaking off the last vestiges of winter to a set which bubbled with afro-beat, jazz and lashings of funk.
Each of the talented line-up had time to display their virtuosity, including the Amazonian Californian Noelle Scaggs, who set the collective kundalini rising with her soulful vocals and galvanising leading of the claps.
The whistles and cheers only grew louder when long-time Quantic collaborator Alice Russell appeared for a song.
The night peaked with a rousing finale, celebrated with a spontaneous conga around the dancefloor.
