It is disturbing to read that Sussex Police take little, if any, action against fox hunters breaking the law (The Argus, March 27).
The law, unfortunately, contains many loopholes but the police have a duty to take action against hunters who continue to disregard the Hunting Act.
I was intrigued by the comments of the police spokesman who said they were facilitating lawful activities.
Does he mean that campaigners who are threatened when observing the hunts do not also merit protection?
Rising council tax bills contain a large proportion of revenue going to the police. Is it too much to ask them to do something about this law breaking by hunts or could it be that some members themselves are hunters and therefore regard this activity as one which doesn't warrant their investigation?
