I note with some interest that Roger French, managing director of Brighton and Hove Buses (Letters, March 12), proposes to run limited stop journeys from Seaford and Newhaven to Brighton.
What about running limited stop peak-hour journeys from Eastbourne to Brighton?
This winter, on many occasions, I have waited 40 minutes for a bus to Brighton and the same time again on the return journey.
In March 2005 I wrote to both Stagecoach, who also ran this route, and Brighton and Hove Buses suggesting that as so many people now work in Brighton and live in Eastbourne as property is much cheaper, they needed a quick peak-hour service to get them to and from work and people with hospital appointments to the Royal Sussex and the Eye Hospital.
The reply I received from both bus companies was that it would be uneconomical.

With regard to letters about the limited stop journeys operating along the A259 coast road which I mentioned in a previous letter (Letters, March 12).
these journeys will in fact operate from Eastbourne and therefore will make for a faster journey to Brighton.
Departures from Eastbourne at 6.43am, 7.03am and 7.23am will complete the journey in almost 15 minutes less than the current journey time.
There will be return limited stop journeys running at 4.48pm and 5.08pm. Full details are available in our new Bus Times publication.
