With regard to the financial state of Shoreham airport's new owners (The Argus, March 27), this airport will only be a successful investment when the demolished airport rail link is reinstated.

This was demolished during the Second World War for security reasons and should have been rebuilt by the MoD, like so many other buildings. This two platform halt would not be expensive to put up again because, as far as I am aware, the original footings are still in place.

Due to the low bridge, until railway access is reinstated there can never be adequate public access to the airport. The bridge is just high enough just for cars to pass under. The other end from the A27 is unsuitable for access.

Shoreham airport is ideal for short hops to Europe. It could take pressure from Gatwick and considerably boost the economies of the towns along the coast.
