Children's author Jacqueline Wilson met some of her young fans at the weekend when she signed copies of her latest book.
Youngsters queued out of the door at WH Smith in Brighton, on Saturday when she arrived to promote My Sister Jodie.
The author, who penned the Tracy Beaker series, was at the store in Churchill Square Shopping Centre for nearly four hours.
A store spokesman said: "I think there were about 1,000 people who came and it was really busy as we had only given out 400 tickets."
Dame Jacqueline has sold more than 25 million books in Britain alone and in 2004 she replaced Catherine Cookson as the most borrowed author in Britain's libraries.
Caitlin Tracey, eight, and Hanna Al- Metrami, ten, both from Hove, were the first in line to meet their favourite author after braving the cold and rain.
