We were devastated to hear Cupcakes café in Buckingham Park, Shoreham, is about to be closed and taken over by Shoreham Rugby Club (Letters, March 25).
Buckingham Park did not used to be a welcoming park as there was nowhere to get a drink. Since the café opened it has become a meeting area for many people - dog walkers, mums with toddlers and many others.
During the summer it is particularly busy and needs to remain there for the good of everyone.
Buckingham Park is supposed to be a "people's park" to be enjoyed by everyone. The rugby club is being selfish causing this café to close.
They should think again.
The lady running the café has worked long and hard to build up the business and does not deserve this type of treatment.
