Adam Trimingham makes some good points about cemeteries and Brighton and Hove's reputation for giving a good funeral.
As Britain's least religious city we should pride ourselves that despite a lack of faith there is no lack of caring.
Subjects like death and burial often do not get discussed for obvious reasons.
However, despite Adam praising new eco-style burials, they can never be truly environmentally friendly.
Taking up a 6ft x 3ft plot of land with the present lack of available land is no good for anyone.
Cremation is a much more environmentally friendly option. If only remembrance gardens were more like graveyards. Remembrance gardens tend to be sterile rose-garden courtyards, whereas cemeteries like Bear Road are full of trees, flowers, animals and birds. What better way to be in death than surrounded by life?
