I would like to inform all readers that plans for the Sewage Works at Lower Hoddern Farm, Peacehaven, are being resubmitted for approval by Southern Water.

Everyone from Brighton to Eastbourne needs to realise that they will be affected if this work goes ahead. Not only with the increased traffic along the A259 but also with the noise and air pollution that the lorries trundling along the already well-worn roads will cause.

A meeting was held last week to discuss local concerns.

However, it is not just a local problem. The tunnel from Black Rock will be under houses at Portobello and will come up at the Meridian car park. Our school lies only metres away.

Work will be done 24 hours a day. It is everyone's responsibility to write with your concerns and objections as it is not too late.

Southern Water has promised funds towards improving the sport facilities in Peacehaven.

This sounds nice but families will move out of the area if the sewage works go ahead so there will be no one to appreciate them.

Even the industrial estate is expanding and if Southern Water is granted permission then I think it will open doors for all other manner of works to be built there. Unfortunately there will be no one left to fill the jobs created. The only people left will be those who cannot afford to move or those who have chosen to live out the rest of their days in Peacehaven.

If we just sit back and do nothing then Peacehaven will just disappear into the history books.

If we do nothing then this green area, full of nature, which has been there for millions of years will be lost for ever.
