I agree with Sue Russell about smokers in the street (Letters, March 26). The Government was over the top to ban smoking from pubs where food is not served and most of the customers and workers are smokers.

Not only has this led to groups of people smoking on pavements but it also means a lot of pubs are now in financial trouble and may have to close.

Many people now think twice about going for a drink in the cold weather as they don't want to be forced outside to have a smoke.

Like it or not, smokers have to have their nicotine fix and many are choosing to stay at home and have a drink there instead.

Perhaps if Sue Russell waits a while the pub that has been bothering her will go out of business and she won't have to dread the summer.
