The BBC Two antiques show, which its producers liken to a mass treaure hunt, attracts around two million viewers each weekday.

Members of the public are invited to bring along and antiques or collectables which they are interested in selling, with every item taken to the experts guaranteed to be given a valuation.

Some people will then be given the chance to put their objects forward for auction.

Past programmes have seen a lady in Aberdeen net £3,400 for a tea set and another owner receive £1,500 for a ceramic bowl they paid £4 for at a car boot sale The auction will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at Scarborough Fine Arts and Worthing Auction Galleries, Unit 2, Grange Industrial Estate, Albion Street, Southwick.

The Brighton and Worthing events will form part of the sixth Flog It! series and will be broadcast later in the year.

Presenter Paul Martin, who is usually accompanied by his pet German Shepherd dog Bluebell, has won a loyal following with his natural enthusiasm and descriptive gifts.

He has worked as a set painter at Pinewood Studios, a set designer for The Clothes Show and a stylist for the likes of Marie Clair magazine. He was also the drummer in early-1990s rock bands The Quireboys and Dogs D'Amour and still plays in local jazz and blues groups.
