Campaigners are calling for urgent funding to save Sussex's crumbling piers.
The renewed pleas came after Bognor Pier yesterday became the latest pier casualty, when a section of it was demolished on safety grounds.
It follows Brighton's West Pier, which was destroyed by a fire in 2003 and Hastings Pier, which is currently partly closed to the public over fears parts of it could collapse.
Angie Edlin, Bognor Pier manager, said three columns at the end of the pier was so badly corroded by the sea they had to be removed.
Mrs Edlin added that it is expensive to maintain the upkeep of a pier as it is a constant battle against the sea.
She said the nightclub on the pier, Club Vision, would not be affected. She also said she did not think the annual Bognor Birdman event would be affected.
