Aa a keen supporter of the Alpha Course, I was thrilled to see that the home of the course, Holy Trinity, Brompton, is in discussion with the congregation of St Peter's Church, Brighton, regarding the possibility of a church plant in an attempt to rebuild its congregation (The Argus, March 14).
Holy Trinity has been highly successful in previous church plants, reviving the fortunes of eight London churches over the past two decades.
It is a church with a very real vision for evangelism. The fact scores of worshippers are prepared to boost St Peter's by committing to move from Holy Trinity is evidence of their sacrificial zeal and enthusiasm.
Of course, their style of worship is quite different from that currently offered at St Peter's. Holy Trinity belongs to the charismatic Anglican tradition of the Church of England but there is no reason why, given love, understanding and a spirit of commitment to each other, the two congregations cannot work together and make a tremendous witness in the middle of Brighton.
