Michelle Taverner's comments regarding elected mayors are fine up to a point for those who voted "yes" to an elected mayor for Brighton and Hove (Letters, March 22).
However, why does she think that Brighton and Hove City Council, after comprehensively voting against having an elected mayor, would welcome Ken Livingstone here if he loses the London mayoral position on May Day? Something which looks most likely.
Why should Brighton and Hove, put up with losers?
