The latest reports from Hastings sadden me. First we have the news the pier is closed because of a combination of rough seas and insufficient investment (The Argus, March 14). Now it's the lift which will be closed for six months while investigations are carried out following the accident in June 2007 (The Argus, March 19).
Why does an investigation take six months? What are the investigators doing? Are they building a new lift?
The official sign for summer visitors to Hastings in 2008 might as well read "closed".
