The resignation of Brighton and Hove City Council leader Brian Oxley, despite your front page coverage, has gone unnoticed by most city residents. This is proof of how little most people care about local politics.
What a forward-thinking and modern city like Brighton and Hove needs is an elected mayor.
An instantly recognisable leader who is willing to take decisions and front them out in the face of opposition.
Perhaps when London Mayor Ken Livingstone is fed up with life in the capital, he might consider semi-retirement on the South Coast and a position with a smaller authority.
