I am currently a postgraduate student at the University of Bristol and I am conducting a spatial and landscape analysis of Southern Command's anti-invasion defences set up in 1940.

Using various areas as my case studies - East Sussex being one of them - my proposal is to conduct a full examination into the type of defence, ballistic capabilities, and social structure set up between June and October 1940, in an attempt to fully understand the true capability of the defences.

I would love to hear from anyone with information or memories of the anti-invasion defences set up, including if possible anti-aircraft batteries, searchlight emplacements etc. I can be contacted by email on Philip.R.Rowe@Bristol.
