Last week I received my water rate bill and was appalled by the amount and unfairness of it. It was more than £300 per year. A large increase on previous years.
Like hundreds of other pensioners living in Brighton and Hove on small fixed incomes I have no washing machine or dishwasher. I don't own a car to wash or have a garden to water and baths have been replaced by ablutions at the bathroom basin.
I would have a meter installed but understand they are difficult to fix in flats where there is more than one water supply.
