If supermarkets begin charging for plastic bags and in some cases withdraw them altogether (The Argus, March 13), why don't they provide cardboard boxes for customers instead?
These would be useful to load shopping into. They could then be recycled after use.
Some supermarkets used to leave boxes for customers but now I don't see any. I wonder why?
