I would like to draw attention to the plight of Newhaven's seafront. The current owners of the area have seen fit to ban everyone from using the beach area and breakwater. These have been used for generations by locals and visitors.
However, the French owners have, under the guise of health and safety, erected large cages in front of all access points.
The worst thing is the owners of the port area have said they do not have the funds to repair the steps or the breakwater but have the funds to erect fences to stop us using the area.
I'm sure on the other side of the Channel this behaviour would not be tolerated.
