The article about students demonstrating about proposed cutbacks seems to give publicity to a small clique of students from the total of 12,000 at the University of Sussex (The Argus, March 15).

Judging from the comments made by the spokesperson for the students depicted in the photograph, I wonder if they understand the political and economic basis of the changes that have been taking place during the past 30 years in higher education.

It would be more balanced to hear, for instance, what the vice chancellor has to say about the vision for the future of the university.
