AN LGBTQ+ activist group has called for the UK to become a republic following the Queen’s death.
In a statement following the announcement of the Queen’s death yesterday, Reclaim Pride Brighton called for an end to the “oppressive system” and expressed hope that “extensive decolonisation efforts” will take place.
“The only pride to be found in the monarchy is in watching it die,” the group said.

Our thoughts, and prayers, are dedicated to hoping this oppressive system ends, and that extensive decolonization efforts will take place.
Thousands of people have flocked to Buckingham Palace to express their sorrow at the Queen’s death, with some shaking hands with King Charles III as he arrived at the palace this afternoon.
Floral tributes were also paid outside the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, with flags being flown at half-mast across the city and the country.
The new King is expected to address the nation for the first time as monarch at 6pm this evening.
