THE London to Brighton bike ride is to go ahead despite many events being postponed after the death of The Queen.
Organisers of the bike ride have taken the decision to run the annual event in order to support their charity partners.
In a short statement, a spokesman for the bike ride said: “In line with the recently released guidelines for national mourning, we would like to confirm that the London to Brighton cycle ride will be going ahead as planned this Sunday.
“We have a huge responsibility to both our charities who rely on the substantial amount of monies that are raised, and to you the participants who have trained so hard for this day and are doing it for your own personal reasons.
“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the royal family and everybody around the world mourning the loss of her majesty.”
The bike ride going ahead comes as other events have been cancelled due to the national period of mourning.
Sporting fixtures, including Brighton and Hove Albion’s Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth, have been postponed.
Other events in Brighton like next weekend’s Pub in The Park and the TUC conference are also not going ahead.
