THE CITY council has not been informed of any school closures following the death of The Queen.
The Argus understands all council-run schools in Brighton and Hove have remained open today.
The Department for Education emailed headteachers last night to advise schools and colleges should remain open today.
Schools Weeks reported the email said normal attendance is “expected” but “headteachers continue to the power to authorise leaves of absence for pupils in exceptional circumstances”.
Further guidance on potential school closures will be issued once a funeral date has been confirmed.
It is expected Her Majesty’s funeral will take place in around 10 or 11 days times.
