An exhibition of seascapes, taken in and around the water, are set to be displayed in a new exhibition.
Simon Punter, from Worthing, is showcasing his photography upstairs at the town’s Montague Gallery, Portland Road, from September 20 to 25 between 10am-4pm.
The photographer has loved the beach since an early age and this was heightened after taking up surfing.
"I have had a love of the beach since an early age and have since felt drawn to the ocean,” said Mr Punter.
“I discovered surfing in my early twenties and as my surfing improved, I craved the unique mix of emotions that I got from the sport and from being amongst salt water; the excitement and satisfaction, along with the calmness it creates.
“This led me to want to swim in the sea all year round, to improve my water confidence. Since moving to Worthing, I have come to love my stretch of local beach and have had countless swims, in all conditions.”
Mr Punter, who works as a commercial photographer, wanted to embark on a more creative project.
“An increasing desire to shake up my photography and do more creative, personal work, made me decide last August, to put on an exhibition,” he said.
“I wanted to show the unpredictability and power of the sea, as well as it’s serenity, through a series of abstracts and more general views, at all times of the day and year.
“Hopefully, these images, taken over a ten-month period, will convey some of the feelings and emotions that I get from being in or near the sea."
