I was very interested in the letter about Roberts & Son (The Argus, March 13) because I left school in 1950 and started work for British Road Services (BRS) in Warwick Street, Brighton.
I can honestly say that Roberts & Son was not in Warwick Street then.
Perhaps when he sold his business it was knocked down?
I would like to get in contact with Charles Wright to see if he remembers the Norman brothers, who owned most of Warwick Street on the North side and ran a haulage company called Southern Transport before the Second World War.
When long-distance transport was nationalised in 1947-48 they became part of BRS.
I wonder if Mr Wright was part of the Wright Bros tipper hauliers who were around at the time?
