There is a Royal Mail scam that gets my goat.
If someone sends you a letter that is inadvertently understamped, in the old days it would be stamped "postage due" and you paid the excess charge to the postman.
Now you get a note telling you there is a letter or package addressed to you but you have to go to the central sorting office to collect it between certain specified hours.
These seem especially designed to exclude anyone with a nine to five job. Then you are charged a £1 "handling fee" in addition to the excess postage.
No wonder people prefer email!
