With reference to the Budget, I was horrified to hear that the road tax for my Ford Mondeo will increase to a whopping £260 for 2009-10 due to the change from engine size to CO2 emissions.
I checked and on my V5C (vehicle registration certificate) it states my CO2 is 182g/km, and looking on the new guide it was right.
This month my 2005 Ford Mondeo is three years old so last Wednesday it had its first MoT examination.
The print-out showed me my vehicle's emission tests at fast idle speed and natural idle speed.
There was nothing to say that my emissions at the moment are 182g/km. I only saw at fast idle speed CO2 0.003 per cent and at natural idle speed it recorded as 0.060 per cent.
So why is my road tax being increased to something which is on my V5C and not, as I see it, related to anything near to what emissions my Mondeo exhaust is actually emitting?
Is this another con by this Government?
Perhaps there is someone who would like to explain it to me.
