The criticism of Al Gore by Tory MP Andrew Tyrie is dangerous nonsense (The Argus, March 10).
Dangerous because it could undermine the efforts of those who have tried to educate the public, politicians and industry about the dangers of global warming.
The science is clear enough. When the sun's rays are reflected by the earth they are infra-red. When infra-red rays meet CO2, the molecules of CO2 vibrate and absorb the energy which would otherwise escape into space. The greater the concentration of man-made CO2, the greater this effect is magnified hence global warming with all the catastrophic weather disruption that comes with it.
