Congratulations to the organisers of the Camra Sussex Beer and Cider Festival 2008. Yet again it was another cracking turnout for one of the best events in the calendar. County ales and some from further afield were exactly what the doctor ordered.
With the budget yesterday there was more of an excuse at the weekend to get the beers in before tax went up.
On a more serious note, what about a special tax on imported beers. Many of the local producers find it hard to survive and for some it's a labour of love.
Also, a pint of imported gassy Dutch lager comes with a hefty head of air miles.
Both the global and local environment would benefit from some more locally brewed ales in our pubs.
Think global. Drink local.
