Martin Smyth asked why rail companies contracting buses for rail replacement do not use buses with seatbelts (Letters, March 10).
If I hadn't been on a Brighton and Hove No 5 bus recently, I would never have believed any buses had seatbelts.
There was an inquiry into seatbelts on trains. The idea was thought impractical, probably because standing is allowed.
