Free bus passes on any bus for the over-60s should mean just that. If a pensioner is not allowed on a bus until after 9am or 9.30am then that is not free bus travel.
East Saltdean, considered to be a small pocket of Brighton, actually comes under Lewes. In Brighton you can get on a bus for free at 9am but in Lewes it is 9.30am. However, East Saltdean is only served by Brighton and Hove Buses. This is unfair.
Some pensioners choose to do part-time jobs to live above the poverty line. Some have early doctor's or hospital appointments etc.
Surely if free bus passes help pensioners be more active and leave their cars at home, this is better for the environment and the national health - saving money in the long run.
