Fulham's finest rapper came to town with a bag full of beats, provided by his deft-fingered sidekick, DJ Rusher, and his own unique lyricism which proves hip-hop has a bright future.
Choice cuts included a jungle version of his debut album title track What We Made and sing-along tune So Many Roads with its sample from the Carpenters' classic We've Only Just Begun.
The support acts for the night were rappers Tricky Micky and LJ, and metal/drum 'n' bass band Floors and Walls, all of whom hail from Brighton. They were good but it was Example's witty rapping which rightly stole the show.
It's refreshing to see that, in a world where commercial rap is packed with tawdry so-called players and self-styled gangsters, hip-hop's poetic origins have found a new champion.
