One lane of the A27 westbound carriage has been closed because of a crash near the Southwick Tunnel.
Two cars were involved in the accident just before 11.30am today.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service is in attendance although a Sussex Police spokesman said the incident did not look serious.
He said: "One lane has been closed and ambulance crews are in attendance, although it doesn't look serious in terms of injuries.
"It looks like the drivers are out of the vehicles."
