I was interested to read the article about traffic causing damage to the Old Mint House in Pevensey (The Argus, March 8).
On my last visit it was in a parlous state.
My mother worked there in the 1930s as nurse companion to then owner, Lady Allen. I was once taken for tea with Lady Allen. I wish I could remember how it was then but alas, my memory does not go back to pre-war times. My mother left in 1934 when she married and moved to Brighton.
