Jean Calder cannot contain her hatred of Israel, declining to purchase food from "the Israeli regime" (The Argus, March 8).

Doubtless she would prefer Palestinian produce from Gaza.

That would be difficult. After Israel left Gaza in 2005, the Palestinians could have continued Israel's thriving horticultural business.

Instead they smashed everything remaining. Today they devote their efforts to firing rockets at Israeli towns.

Ms Calder calls Israel "oppressive".

Presumably she prefers the Palestinians who two days previously, had organised and perpetuated a terrible massacre of orthodox Jewish rabbinical students, aged about 16, studying at a school in Jerusalem. Seven were murdered and dozens badly injured.

It is said we are judged by the company we keep. Ms Calder has made a strange choice of bedfellow.
