Coastguards were called out to surfers who took advantage of huge waves off the Sussex coast today.

Solent Coastguard watch assistant Matthew Taylor said: "We have had two surfers and one body-boarder decide it would be great fun to go out on their boards in this weather.

"We have made lifeguards aware that if something goes wrong they will be tasked to go and rescue them."

Selsey Coastguard was also sent to talk to the surfers at Bracklesham Bay, near Chichester, "to try and educate them to think about safety first", added Mr Taylor.
