Tomorrow's 100th International Women's Day is being celebrated with a week of events across the city.

The day itself will begin with a breakfast send-off at the Red Roaster (8am-10am, St James's Street, Brighton), to support women heading to the Million Women Rise protest march in London.

There will then be a drop-in networking afternoon at the Brighton Women's Centre in Kemp Town (free, 2pm-4pm, 72 High Street, Brighton, visit www.womenscentre.org.uk).

Refreshments and a children's play area will be available for this women-only event.

An evening of cabaret at the Komedia Studio Bar, Where Are You Coming From? (£6/£5, 8pm, Gardner Street Brighton, call 01273 647100), will complete the festivities.

The following day sees An Afternoon Of Cake And Debate take place at the Friends' Meeting House (Ship Street, Brighton, women only, children welcome), where women will be able to discuss what feminism means to them and what gender issues they face in the modern age.

The celebrations culminate in a disco at the Sanctuary Cella (8pm-11pm, £5/£4, Upper Brunswick East, Hove) on Wednesday. There will be a "funky female DJ" and men are very welcome, "as long as they come along with a woman".

The International Women's Day (IWD) group in Brighton and Hove is a non-profit organisation which works to "celebrate and support the diversity and achievements of women". It strives to achieve this through the arts, workshops, talks, networking, debate, participating projects and organisations.

IWD is now recognised in more than 80 countries.
