DOZENS of flights in and out of Gatwick Airport have been delayed due to "late notice staff absence".
Almost 50 departures have been delayed.
While several arrivals are also delayed, some by up to six hours.
One passenger said he is currently waiting on the tarmac at Pula Airport in Croatia “due to a lack of air traffic controllers” at Gatwick.

He added this it could be up to two and a half hours until take off.
A Gatwick Airport spokeswoman said: “Restrictions have been put on the number of flights that can arrive into Gatwick due to late notice staff absence in the airport’s control tower.
"Some flights throughout the day may unfortunately be delayed or cancelled as a result.
"Gatwick would like to apologise for any inconvenience this will cause to our passengers.”
Last week, the airport cancelled around easyJet 26 flights in and out due to “late notice staff absence in the airport’s control tower”.
