A COUNCIL is appealing for information after a bench was set on fire causing “hundreds of pounds” damage. 

The bench at Bodiam Crescent play area in Eastbourne was set alight over the weekend. 

Eastbourne Council is asking for anyone with any information to get in touch. 

A spokesman said: “A bench in Bodiam Crescent play area in the Hydneye was set on fire over the weekend causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage. 

“We are asking for anyone with information about this to please contact us as soon as possible by emailing customerfirst@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk.”
