A GANG of children were caught on camera ransacking a shop of its vapes before running away.
The incident happened on July 7 at Londis in Goring Road, Goring.
The group of four children entered into the shop just after 7pm before grabbing multiple vapes from a shelf and running away.
It comes as we revealed last week how youth crime has got so bad in the Worthing area that police made a "wanted" style poster of 30 notorious boys and girls for train staff to look out for.
Sussex Police are aware of the children in the video and investigations are “ongoing”.
The shop owner, who wanted to stay anonymous, said: “That day, they came into my store then went onto about two or three more. They stole wine, alcohol and break the bottles. They have done many things to businesses in the area.
“This area, we have been in this shop a few months. All good people, local people here ask about how things are. People see videos online of the incidents."
CCTV stills show how a man in a yellow top tried to stop one of the children leaving with the stolen vapes.
A staff member wearing a pink top also confronts the youngsters before they managed to escape.
The shop owner has now put the vapes behind a case to stop people from stealing them.
In the last week we have reported about how the community of Worthing has been blighted by crime including shoplifting, assaults and arson.
Concerns have been raised that shoplifting in the area has been going unpunished.
Arrests have been made for more serious crimes such as allegedly assaulting staff at shops or setting fire to a platform cafe in Worthing Station.
Investigations for most of these incidents are ongoing.
Some crimes have gone to court, such as when a 14-year-old boy swung at a shopworker at Budgens in Boxgrove, Goring, in March.
The boy was given a youth rehabilitation order which includes wearing a tag and supervision, as well as a £22 fine for his parents/guardian.
A 13-year-old boy was stabbed in the town centre on March 13.
Two boys have plead not guilty and will appear in court on November 4. Another boy was due to be sentenced on August 12, but Sussex Police did not have the recorded outcome of that hearing yet.
Another man who lives in the area said: “The impact on the community has been horrendous. I’m speaking for the people I have talked to after incidents. It could be my mum, your mum, someone’s nan.
“The staff are resigned to the behaviour, some people have quit their jobs.
“There is nothing more basic to the right of any person than earning a living. Most people would agree that unless you’re in the army, you would be earning that living in a safe environment.”
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
“Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1227 of 07/07.”
