TWO men have been taken to hospital after reportedly jumping into the sea from the pier.
Police, ambulance crews and the RNLI were called to Brighton seafront earlier this evening, with a helicopter also spotted circling over the coast.
An eyewitness said that part of the beach was closed off while the emergency services attended the incident.
Emergency vehicles were seen parked at the entrance to the Palace Pier along the road near the seafront at around 7pm this evening.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Two men have been taken to hospital having reportedly jumped into the sea from Brighton Palace Pier.
“Police were alerted to the incident at about 6.55pm on Sunday, August 28.
“Officers supported emergency service partners at the scene and the men were left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital.”
South East Coast Ambulance Service and the RNLI have been contacted for comment.
