A PAIR of newlyweds have set off across Europe in a converted camper van for their honeymoon.
Sam and Gabi Aptelis got married at Brighton Town Hall on April 30 before setting off on June 11 for their six-month trip.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to all travel the pair are making the most of their newly married life by renting out their bungalow in Hove and going on an adventure.
They have travelled all the way up to the Arctic Circle, making various stops along the way, before heading to southern Europe.
This is not Sam and Gabi’s first trip, the couple, who teach swing dance in their spare time, converted their first camper van in 2016 to travel to Sweden for a swing dance festival.
They are now onto self-converted camper van number three, complete with a double bed, storage and cooking facilities.
Sam, 31, who works as a structural engineer, said: “We love road trips in our vans, this is our third self-converted camper van but our biggest road trip so far.
“Seeing the reindeer in Finnish Lapland, meeting Santa and experiencing the midnight sun in the Arctic Circle have been just a couple of highlights on the trip so far.
“Many more to come as we head to the south of Europe next.”
The couple have a YouTube channel to document their entire trip and have amassed almost 3,000 subscribers.
They post videos depicting their journey and answering questions from followers about their life on the road.
Sam said: “We are now in the south of Norway having travelled across Europe to Lithuania where we spent a month with Gabi's family before heading up through the Baltics to get a ferry to Finland.
“We then took three weeks to get from Helsinki to the most northern point of Finland, well within the Arctic Circle, before heading over the border into Norway and now over the last three weeks we have travelled down the length of Norway.”
