A RAILWAY line was blocked after a freight train slammed into a group of deer.
The incident happened around 9.30pm last night between Uckfield and Tunbridge Wells.
Southern Rail had to terminate one of its Uckfield services as a result.
A Southern Rail spokesman: “Sadly, a freight train struck a number of deer near Eridge at about 9.30pm last night.
"The freight train's rear engine could not be restarted, which meant we had to terminate one of our Uckfield services at Crowborough while the line was being cleared.
"We provided taxis from Crowborough, and passengers whose journeys were delayed by 15 minutes or more can claim Delay Repay compensation via our website.”
The line was reopened shortly after midnight.
