COMMUTERS are facing disruption after several train services have been delayed, cancelled or revised following an incident.
Direct services by Southern and Thameslink between Brighton and Cambridge and Three Bridges and Bedford have been suspended, with a heavily reduced service between Bedford and Gatwick Airport and Brighton.
Govia Thameslink, which operates services from both companies, said that delays and disruption were being caused after a person was hit by a train between Bedford and London St Pancras International.
The train company has warned of delays of over an hour and cancellations to services, with passengers urged to delay any travel until later in the day.
One commuter said: “All of the services from Haywards Heath were cancelled meaning that I have had to get a train towards Littlehampton.
“It’s frustrating because I’m going to be late for work but understandable given what sounds like a sad incident further up the line.”
Disruption is expected to continue until 1pm.
Passengers can use their tickets on local buses and alternative train routes including:
- London Underground lines via all necessary routes
- Metrobus services between Horsham and Three Bridges
- Southern trains between London and Horsham
- Gatwick Express between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria
