A NEW pub has been opened in Sussex by one of the stars of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
Lady C, real name Lady Colin Campbell, featured on the hit reality show in 2015 – leaving midway through the series on medical grounds.
The author, socialite and television personality has re-opened Roots bar in Worthing, near her home at Castle Goring.
The 72-year-old said the name of the bar is meant to represent a new beginning while calling back to her childhood in Jamaica.
The reality star said becoming a publican has been full of new experiences.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever poured a pint,” she said. “It was fun. I didn’t realise it splashes so much.”
She said she wanted to make her customers feel welcome after taking over the pub and drastically changing the decor.
“It used to be a heavy metal bar,” she said. “It was very dark and black inside.
“I think a place should be elegant and enticing and make you feel welcome.”
Her son Misha, 29, said he wants to bring a bit of West End class to West Sussex, with the decor meant to look like their family home in London.
Lady C put up the money to buy the bar in November last year, and Misha said he worked on fitting it out himself.
“Roots is about building from the ground up and that’s what we’re about,” he said.
Lady C added: “I very much approve. I bought all the pictures for the walls because that is the kind of thing I like to do.”
