FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a house this morning.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is still at the property in Bentswood Road, Haywards Heath.
Four fire engines were called to the house shortly after 10.30am this morning. Fire had broken out on the first floor.
Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) were also in attendance.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "Joint Fire Control sent four fire engines from Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to the scene, as well as a command support unit from Haywards Heath.
"On arrival crews found a fire in the first floor of the property and firefighters used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.
"The fire is now out and crews from Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill remain at the scene damping down."
The first floor was burnt out and the windows smashed from the fire.
A Secamb spokesman said: "Four patients suffering from smoke inhalation were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further checks."
