A ROAD has flooded due to blocked drains.
Water can be seen kerb to kerb in Muster Green, Haywards Heath, following heavy rainfall across Sussex this morning.
The flood comes after The Met Office warned of difficult driving conditions and “possible water surface flooding” following a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.
Parts of the county were hit by a torrential downpour this morning.
The water is not deep enough to prevent vehicles from driving through but is seeping into the beer garden of The Star Hotel.
A West Sussex County Council spokesman said: “Even clear, fully functioning highway drainage systems can be overwhelmed at times in persistent, torrential rainfall.
"In this instance, we are aware there has been flooding at this location before and we are trying to find a long-term solution: a replacement drainage system, or an upgrade of the existing one, is currently at a design stage.”
