THE new owner of a pub has said he is excited to reopen its doors to customers after several years.
The Islingword in Queens Park Road in Brighton was forced to close due to a ceiling leak in March 2020 but is now set to welcome patrons once again after a major refurbishment.
Charlie Pearce, who has taken the reins at the pub, said: “I cannot explain how excited I am to open the doors and welcome everyone inside.
“It looks a bit different, but I can guarantee you will love it.”
A sneak preview of the venue on their Instagram account has shown workers installing new tiling around the bar, a stencil-like mural of Hanover, and new light fittings.
The venue has a weekend of fun planned, kicking off on their opening day on Thursday, August 18, with live music, a DJ on Friday, and a quiz, an indoor food truck and children’s entertainment on Saturday.
A giant glitter ball has been shown being installed at the venue on their Instagram ahead of the festivities later this week.
Charlie hoped that the local community would embrace the newly-reopened pub and urged all residents to pay the venue a visit.
“Don’t be a stranger, everyone is welcome,” she said.
Bookings for the pub ahead of their opening on Thursday at 12pm can be made on their website.
It comes as another pub reopens after being gutted by a fire just over two years ago.
All Bar One in Pavilion Buildings in Brighton was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic but was then damaged after a blaze reigned debris down across the venue, charred wood and broke several appliances.
The venue is promising to offer “all things shiny and new” as it reopens later this month.
In a message to customers on Instagram, the venue said: “We are so excited to be reopening our doors to the absolutely fabulous people of Brighton with a shiny new look.
“It’s felt like a long time coming but we promise it won’t be long till you’re back with us, sipping on a glass of Processo and having a boogie at brunch with us.”
