BUSINESSES are fighting one another for storage as available warehouse space in the city tightens.
Brighton ranked sixth in a list of UK cities revealed to have the least amount of warehouse space per registered companies.
Just 3.33 square feet of storage space is up for grabs for each of the businesses in the city.
It is one of the worst affected areas, with 56,617 square feet for the 17,010 registered companies.
Orderwise, which analysed the data, said the pandemic was partly to blame for the shortage.
Jon Roberts, sales director at Orderwise, said: “While much of the industry attempts to return to something resembling normal, industrial businesses are continuing to deal with the hangover of Covid, Brexit and general supply chain issues that have been around for years.
“It’s important that businesses learn to work smarter with the space they have.
“This could be through automation or by investing in a warehouse management system that can help.
"Even in the areas with the most space it’s still vital that warehouse operations are efficient to help businesses meet their goals.”
Brighton even came above London, which ranked seventh, while Slough weighed in as the area with the least available storage space per business.
The UK’s 50 most populated towns and cities were surveyed.
